(27-07-2007)
Which 'offers' are the 'right' ones?
Along with the profile of being an elite athlete come many business 'offers'. Which ones are the 'right' ones? Which ones are going to disappoint?
Working out the answer to these questions is serious business in itself. It's called 'due diligence' and every athlete needs to be able to ask enough questions to mitigate against choosing the 'dud' opportunities.
Now business is about managing risk in pursuit of maximum performance, so there's never any guarantee people, even with good due diligence, will pick winners each time. But there's no excuse for not asking questions of prospective 'offerors' of opportunities.
New Arenas is just about to launch a new seminar series to assist athletes develop the skills to ask the right questions and filter out the 'opportunities' that are either too risky or unsuitable for their profile.
